Suffolk covers an area of approximately 1500 square miles. To the north is the county of Norfolk, in the west lies Cambridgeshire and the southern border is with Essex. Suffolk also has 50 miles of coastline that faces the North Sea.

Apart from the south western corner, most of the county is no more than 300 feet above sea level. Although it is by no means completely flat.
